Sony Ericsson unveil their first slider mobile phone with Walkman branding.
Sony Ericsson have unveiled their new Walkman W850i slider phone. Having already released the normal bar style walkman mobile phones in the form of the Sony Ericsson W800i and the Sony Ericsson W810i, and have also released rotating versions of the Walkman mobile phones with the Sony Ericsson W900i and Sony Ericsson W550i.
The Sony Ericsson W850i will be the first slider design mobile phone released by Sony Ericsson and as such will be the first phone of this type in the walkman mobile collection.
The new walkman mobile phone boasts a storage capacity of upto 4GB, being shipped with 1GB memory stick duo pro, which is useful for storing all your music files. The 3G data connection should also make downloading your music tracks speedy. The W850i supports MP3,AAC, ACC+,eAAC+ and M4A music file formats. To add to the fun factor of the phone the W850i’s control keys flash in time with your music and the A2DP stereo headset profile also adds to its usability.
Other features include Bluetooth, 2.0 mega pixel camera with auto focus, video capture/playback, a landscape web browsing mode, and an RSS news reader to name a few. The W850i also supports video calls when connected to a 3G network.

On first glance the W850i looks similar to the recently announced Sony Ericsson K790i and the Sony Ericsson K800i but unlike these two models the W850i only has a 2 megapixel camera instead of 3.2 megapixels. In our opinion Sony Ericsson should consider adding a higher resolution camera to any further models in the Walkman collection to advance the line further and drive sales.
The W850i will be available in Q3 of this year, it will be released in precious black and golden white colour schemes.
