Sony Ericsson have edged past Samsung to become the third largest handset manufacturer in the UK, the two companies are locked in a fierce battle to take the title, according to sources. The number one UK manufacturer currently being Nokia and in second place Motorola. Could Sony Ericsson’s success leapfrog them to steal Motorola’s second place?
Samsung's share of the UK market has dipped from a consistent 18% last year to 13% this year. Samsung intend to fight back in the next few weeks with the launch of the Samsung E900 mobile phone with touch sensitive keys.
It is claimed that Sony Ericsson have risen to 15% market share in February and has held on to its title ever since. Its success could be attributed to their successful Walkman mobile phone range, with models such as the Sony Ericsson W550i, Sony Ericsson W810i, and the Sony Ericsson W900i.
Sony Ericsson have announced its Q4 walkman styled mobile phone in the form of the 3G Sony Ericsson W850i slider.
