Low demand for Motorola PEBL and SLVR mobile phones results in price cuts
Prices have dropped on the Motorola PEBL and the SLVR mobile phones by as much as 42% since February.
This is a result of unexpectedly low demand for both mobile phones and over ordering by distributors. Distributors claim that Motorola only dispatched a fraction of their orders requested before February. As mobile phone demand usually outstrips supply all the distributors generally massively order stock to get close to the required amount of handsets, but when February came all the stock requested was delivered to the distributors leaving them with a large surplus amount of mobile phones.
Motorola have concentrated on making their handsets look stylish and attractive to the eye, but not really considered the extra features that customers now look for in a mobile phone, which could be the reason why customer demand has been low.
On the other hand, if you're looking for a basic handset (with a few little extras) the PEBL and the SLVR fit the bill nicely, so now is a good time to snap up a deal on one of the handsets as prices are being cut by the distributors in an attempt to sell their remaining stock.
