LG release the first 5 mega pixel camera phone
The LG KG920 mobile phone which is soon to be released in Germany and then into a selection of other European countries has been displayed at the Communicasia exhibition in Singapore this week.
The unique selling point of the LG KG920 is its 5 mega pixel camera. When it is released in Germany it will be the highest resolution camera phone on sale to date.
The 5MP camera is on the back fascia of the LG KG920 and the whole assembly swivels around very similar to the Nokia 3250. The LG KG920 measures 108 x 50 x 18mm which is fairly small but it is quite a heavy handset weighing in at 138grams. The buttons on the front fascia are also strangely laid out. The camera also boasts auto focus, strobe flash, and can take VGA quality video clips; everything can be saved on the 128MB of internal memory or on miniSD cards.
The also recently announced Nokia N93 which also has swivelling parts has a lower mega pixel camera at 3.2 MP but also boasts optical zoom and a Carl Zeiss lens which the LG KG920 lacks. It will be interesting to see which phone takes the higher quality picture as higher mega pixels don’t necessarily mean better pictures. A lot depends on the lens quality as well.
The LG KG920’s other features include an MP3 player, email client, Bluetooth and web browser, it has a large 240 x 320 pixel screen.
