Vodafones major refresh of its mobile phone price plans is due to shake up the contract mobile phone industry once more
Wednesday, July 12, 2006
Mobile networks are bracing themselves for Vodafone’s major refresh of their pay monthly tariffs next month. The new tariffs are expected to include richer bundles with substantially more minutes. Vodafone are also expected to offer customers attractive bonuses when they purchase deals directly through its own sales channels such as a Vodafone high street store or through the Vodafone website.
Vodafone recently launched a new Pay as you Go incentive that gives customers free cross network weekend calls and text messages depending on the amount of credit they use on their mobile phone each week. You can read more about that offering in our recent article about the new Vodafone pay as you go incentive.
With the amount of value pay monthly contract tariffs are offering which has spiralled since T-Mobile introduced it's Flext tariff's, it could see more and more people turning away from Pay as you Go in favour of pay monthly tariffs. Customers may feel with a large amount of inclusive minutes and text messages per month for a set line rental fee it may be a better way for them to control mobile phone spending and help them to avoid being caught without credit.
Vodafone is investing £15m into its stores and it is expected that they will use the stores to their full advantage, meaning the savings that they make on commissions to independent retailers will help to fund an improved pay monthly deal.
