Mis-selling the O2 i-Mode tariff has lead to it being axed.
Thursday, July 27, 2006
O2 have had to axe their best value i-mode tariff as reports have told that staff at several high street retail chains have been accidentally wrongly selling the tariff.
i-Mode is o2’s new way of browsing the web on your mobile to allow for faster browsing and easier use of large websites such as eBay.
The top value i-mode tariff offered 500 anytime cross network minutes and 100 text messages for £35 per month on an 18 month contract, with a promotion of double minutes and texts (1000 minutes and 200 texts) for the first 6 months.
The tariff was specifically designed to be sold on i-Mode mobiles such as the Samsung z320i and the Samsung s500i, but staff at the various outlets have been offering the tariff on non i-Mode mobile phones due to the value that it offers.
Customers have been offered the i-mode tariff with 500 minutes and 100 texts at £35 a month, rather than the O2 standard tariff at £35 a month which only includes 250 minutes and no double minutes promotion. Many high street retailers’ staff members have claimed the i-Mode tariff was the best selling tariff in stores and you can see why as it offers the customer much better value for money.
O2 have therefore now axed the top value i-mode tariff, however it has coincided with the launch of their new tariffs that are much better value for money compared to the old tariffs offering more minutes for the same monthly line rental as the previous plans.
