BenQ-Siemens are to release a Hello Kitty themed mobile phone this month.
Wednesday, August 16, 2006
BenQ-Siemens will soon be releasing the AL26 Hello Kitty mobile phone. The AL26 has an almost identical spec to the older AL21 which was a basic handset but was popular due to its ease of use. The AL26 comes in a slider phone design pitting it against phones like the Samsung D900, although the AL26 has less features and extras than the D900.
The AL26 doesn’t have a camera , Bluetooth or MP3 player, but it does have GPRS, WAP 1.2 browser, Java, and a battery life of a maximum of 5 hours talk time and 9 days standby time.
The AL26 is lightweight mobile phone weighing 78 grams, it measures approximately 86.8 x 45.8 x 19.2 mm and has a 130 x 130 pixel display. The Hello Kitty theme isn’t just in the form of the graphics on the fascia covers and the Hello Kitty charm, it carries on throughout the phone with wallpapers, games and ringtones.
The AL26 definitely stands out from the crowd for its design but will its lack of features put people off or will people love the Hello Kitty theme so much they will be satisfied with its basic functions? It’s a certainty that Hello Kitty is popular brand, and other Hello Kitty handsets such as the A267 and the i516 have been successful in Asia but have very rarely ended up being released in Europe.
The BenQ-Siemens Hello Kitty AL26 will be available later this month and certainly stands out from the rest of the BenQ-Siemens range. To see the entire BenQ-Siemens range as it stands, take a look at our BenQ Siemens mobile phone section.
