Bigger bundles and more minutes get Orange’s Animal pay monthly mobile phone tariffs back on track
Friday, August 18, 2006
Orange have started to realise the potential of their Animal tariffs with their revamped plans and are poised to make a surge once more to take back their crown as the UK’s biggest contract mobile phone provider.
After the initial early April launch of the Orange Animals, namely Racoon, Dolphin, Canary and Panther it seemed that Orange were late to the party which was started by the superb value and clever tariff structure provided by T-Mobile’s Flext range. Although an improvement over their previous tariffs in terms of extra minutes and texts they still couldn’t compete with the new breed of tariffs and added to that the new concept of classifying a customer’s mobile phone use by type was met with a very lukewarm reception.
Orange however was quick to realise this and did something about it. In early August they increased the value in the Animal tariffs to offer substantially more minutes and texts.
This seems to have been a winning strategy and the enhanced value in their new mobile phone tariffs has coupled with their reputation as a strong network to see them making huge strides in the amount of contracts they are selling every day. This can only be a good thing for Orange in pushing the message of different types of users for different packages and may help them to cement the Racoon, Dolphin, Canary and Panther user types in customer consciousness.
