Vodafone fight back next month with new “create your own world” mobile phone tariffs
Monday, August 21, 2006
The tariff battle is far from over as Vodafone release their ‘create your own world’ tariffs next month to hopefully win back customers. The new tariffs have been inspired by T-Mobiles Flext tariffs, offering the customer flexibility and choice.
Vodafone will offer customers basic packages with the option of adding extras for free on basic tariffs over £30 a month. Extras will include text bundles, 50% extra minutes (this costs 2 extras), three months half price line rental, or six months Sky TV. Customers will be allowed to choose one free extra on a 12 month contract and 3 free extras on an 18 month contract. Stop the clock can be added for an extra £5 per month.
Vodafone will be restricting the choice of free extras to its own stores with customers purchasing deals through other retailers being given the standard voice and text packages, for example 500 minutes and 100 texts for £35 a month. Below are the new basic tariff packages:
The tariffs have higher minutes and texts for the same monthly line rental as the current Anytime plans, so they are definitely better value for money, although in our opinion Vodafone should have looked more closely at the amounts of texts offered as these seem to be big drivers for the T-Mobile Flext tariff and many of Three’s mobile phone tariff range.
