Nokia to release 6280 upgrade

Nokia will be releasing the upgrade to the Nokia 6280 in the form of the Nokia 6288.  The Nokia 6288 is almost exactly the same as its predecessor, apart from a few cosmetic changes. 

Much the same as the 6280 it features Bluetooth, multimedia support, FM radio, MP3 player, micro SD expandable memory, 2 mega pixel camera and a separate VGA camera for video calling. 

The main upgrade from the 6280 is that the 6288 has a 512Mb memory card compared to the original 64Mb.  The large capacity memory card is for the enhanced video related capabilities such as video playing, sharing and video ringtones.  It also has a larger battery capacity upgrading from 970 mAh to 1100 mAh.

It weighs in at 115g which is slightly heavier than some of the 3G phones currently on the market, but the original 6280 was a popular handset so we don’t think this will put people off.  It measures 100 x 46 x 21 mm and has a 240 x 320 pixel, 35 x 45 mm, 256K colour TFT screen.

The Nokia 6288 will be available in Q4 in black and white colour schemes.
