Flext signs up its 1 millionth customer
T-Mobile has announced that it has signed up its 1 millionth customer to the popular Flext mobile phone tariff. The sales success of the Flext plans has even astounded T-Mobile, and they have now become the fastest growing price plan in T-Mobile history!
The Flext tariffs are slightly different than standard tariffs as they give the customer a certain amount of ‘call credit’ each month for a set line rental (eg. Flext 20 - £15 a month line rental, includes £34 of call credit). The Flext plans work in the same way as a Pay as you Go mobile phone would where your calls, text messages and picture messages are taken out of your call credit (20p per minute cross network calls, 10p text message and 20p MMS).
The Flext tariff is so popular that nine out of ten customers have said that they would recommend the price plan to friends and family with the main reason that so many people are fond of the Flext tariffs likely down to the flexibility the plans offer. The customer gets to choose how they wish to spend their ‘credit’, rather than being tied down to a set amount of minutes and text messages per month. Customers also receive a weekly text message to inform them of their remaining allowance during the month and the date of their next bill.
A ‘Best Check Up’ plan is offered every 6 months to review the customers phone usage, to see if upgrading or downgrading their Flext tariff would benefit them, and save them a little extra money.
The continued success of Flext has surprised many in the industry as it’s initial burst of sales was supplied by many independent retailers who were receiving excellent commission for selling the tariff, however T-Mobile slashed the commissions after the first half of 2006 after receiving 629,000 new Flext customers.
Following this cut in commissions many retailers pushed Flext to the back of the pile when recommending tariffs to customers, yet it is clear from the latest Flext sales figures that the tariff has been strong enough on it’s own to continue to sign up new customers at an astounding rate.
