Trial of X-Series by Onecompare.com.
We are currently running a trial of the X-Series features, using a Nokia N73 on Three. We will be reporting back here about the X-Series features available on Three and how we have found setting them up and using them.
The idea behind the X-Series on Three is to allow users to take features of their PC and TV on the road with them via their mobile.
Features include:
- Silver Package
- Unlimited* Skype calls (to other Skype users)
- Unlimited* Windows Live Messenger
- Unlimited* Data to use on Web browsing such as Yahoo! and Ebay
- Mobile Mail – allowing push email access to your Yahoo! Mail, Googlemail and other ISP email accounts.
- Mobilecast – a free to use service that allows you to download podcasts direct to your mobile.
*Fair usage policy applies
Three are offering two levels of subscription; the Silver package includes all of the above. The Gold package allows all the above plus unlimited* access to two extra features:
- Gold Package
- Orb – allows you to access files on your PC from your mobile, i.e. photos or music saved on your hard drive.
- Slingbox – the Slingbox kit plugs into your TV at home and sends the live TV signal to your mobile, meaning you need never miss your favourite show.
The packages are an add on to your normal line rental, the X-Series Silver is £5.00 per month and the X-Series Gold is £10.00 per month (although the Slingbox kit will set you back £99). For those that regularly browse the web on their mobile this is going to mean a big saving from the traditional per MB charge.
Currently there are only 3 handsets that support X-Series, the Nokia N73,the E65 and the Sony Ericsson W950, although many more are expected in 2007.
