As the first part of the trial of the X-Series, Onecompare.com have tested the Mobile Mail Feature.

The X-Series on Three allows users to have quick and easy access to most ISP email accounts, as well as POP3 and IMAP4 - meaning you can have your emails delivered to your mobile, just the same as a text message. Unfortunately webmail accounts such as Hotmail, cannot be accessed through Mobile Mail.

Firstly Onecompare.com set up a Google mail account, this bit has to be done on your PC, not your mobile. Once this was all set up the MSN Messenger application was downloaded from the 3 mobile internet (following very simple instructions from www.three.co.uk/xseries/index.omp) to set it up on the N73, with only a matter of clicks.

We then simply had to enter our Google Mail username and password, and after a test email was sent by Three, we were up and running. After a series of test emails back and forward we were suitably impressed!

Now Onecompare.com's favourite pictures can be emailed straight from the N73 to the office email address and back again. They are delivered by a text message style prompt on the screen within a matter of minutes. Received messages are still copied to the web version of Google Mail, although sent messages only exist on the media you created them on.

Onecompare.com have been able to send jpeg images to the N73 with success, but as yet have been unable to get attached word documents to open with QuickOffice - although this is probably an issue with the settings of QuickOffice rather than the Mobile Mail, and we will keep trying.

All in all Onecompare.com are impressed with the ease of set up of Mobile Mail, there were no complicated settings to enter and the speed of delivery is excellent - making this a great option for those needing mobile on the move.
