This new Beta version brings the internet to your fingertips.
Yahoo! Go has been optimised for the mobile screen, to allow users instant, easy access to the mobile internet. Yahoo! Go uses a carousel of widgets which have been developed to automatically push favourite content to your mobile. So if you have set up a weather report for your area you can instantly check this with the press of a button, you are also able to check financial information, your calendar entries, local information, read blogs, upload pictures to Flickr and much more.
The widgets sit along the bottom of your mobile screen and can be easily scrolled through to get to your personalised content. And new technology means that your content is always instantly available, without having to wait or navigate through complicated menus.
Yahoo! Go stores your personal information, and the information about your personal content – it then syncs this with your Yahoo! Web account, this means that you can select content on your PC and it will automatically apply to your Yahoo! Mobile (and vice versa). Also if you are unlucky enough to lose or have your phone stolen you won’t lose all your Yahoo! Data, as it will still be available on your PC account.
Of course you can get to your Yahoo! Emails on your mobile - send and reply to emails on the move, and again anything you do on your mobile will be reflected on your PC meaning your account is always up to date.
Yahoo! oneSearch is devised to make searching for websites or information much easier. It understands the type of search you are doing and sets the results out accordingly – so answers are grouped by subject and relevance, and make finding information easier and quicker. Yahoo! oneSearch also remembers your past searches for added speed.
Yahoo! Go is simple to set up, and available on over 100 mobiles on almost all UK networks. Yahoo! has instructions for setting this up either by entering your phone number and receiving the link via text message, or you can simply enter a web address into your mobile.
Setting up Yahoo! Go is free to do, however everything that you use and search for will use data on your mobile (prices dependant on network and package). As this is a ‘push’ feature we expect this to be quite pricey as you will be constantly connecting to the mobile internet to update your widgets and personal content. Yahoo! Go does tell you exactly how much data you have used, by displaying it on screen when you exit the session – so you will be able to keep track of it better than most other internet applications, but OneCompare.com suggests that those who are interested in using this as an everyday feature sign up to an ‘unlimited’ data package if available on their network.
