US Presidential Candidate Barack Obama has targeted youngsters by recording his own mobile ringtones. The ringtones are available from his website and he is clearly appealing to all genres, including Rock, Hip hop and Techno!
Politicians always try to target the age group 18-24 as they are viewed as apathetic, so this new angle is an attempt to get them interested in politics via a media that they are surrounded by. The ringtones also feature sound clips from speeches by Barack, talking about Healthcare and the War.
Barack Obama also has pages on MySpace, Facebook and other social networking internet sites, in order to get the attention of younger voters. On Facebook Barack has in excess of 96 thousand friends and his impressive MySpace site has over 21 thousand friends, with many messages of support on his page. We couldn’t find any official Gordon Brown pages on either site!
