Samsung have released the 3G U700, which is almost identical to the previously released U600. The only addition feature wise is 3G, giving the phone HSDPA for high speed data transfers.

The phone is still a light slim phone despite the 3G addition, it is only 12.1mm thick, just over 1mm thicker than the U600. The front of the phone has a really nice glossy mirror finish, which unfortunately is a magnet for fingerprints and smudges.

The front panel has the usual answer and end call keys, but Samsung have also managed to squeeze 4 other touch sensitive buttons on there without reducing the screen size.

The U700 has a 3 megapixel camera and of course the extra VGA camera for video calls. The internal memory is 40MB and this can be expanded by microSD card.

Another advantage the U700 has over the U600 is an increased battery life, 270 hours standby time and a much more reasonable 5 hours talk time.

At present the U700 is only available in silver, but knowing Samsung it should shortly be available in a whole range of colours to suit everyone. The Samsung U700 is available now, and is free on tariffs of £30.00 and above.
