Standard rates to drop on 30th August 2007.
Tuesday, August 07, 2007
Virgin announced on Friday that they will be dropping the standard cost of calls within all 27 EU countries as of August 30th. Currently the cost to make a call in Europe on the Virgin network is 60ppm, and 30ppm to receive a call. As of August 30th the costs will drop to 38ppm to make a call and, 19ppm to receive a call.
The costs will apply to all customers automatically, and on arrival in an EU country Virgin Mobile will text their customers to remind them of the new lower rates. Virgin also do a free ‘text-to-get’ service, where all customers can send a free text with their destination and receive the calling and texting costs for that country.
Of all the networks to lower their costs 3 have come out on top by a long way. They will be dropping the call cost to 25ppm and receiving a call will be just 10ppm – this is way below the EU cap and will mean great savings for many customers!
