Just as Virgin mobile lose their TV service.
Thursday, August 16, 2007
Virgin announced late last month that their mobile TV service would be going off the air early 2008. This is due to BT pulling the plug on the BT Movio mobile TV service that Virgin Mobile’s TV runs off.
A spokesperson for BT said the BT Movio service was pulled as it only had a few thousand subscribers and market conditions have changed. BT Movio runs off the DAB digital spectrum, and the EU have decided that DVB-H is the future of mobile TV, in an attempt to unify mobile TV standards.
However as Virgin struggle to find a replacement for their Mobile TV service, T-Mobile have announced a new deal with Sky to bring shows such as Lost, 24 and Premiership football to T-Mobile phones.
T-Mobile are offering four new TV packages, for all compatible 3G phones. You can choose from the following packages:
T-Mobile TV pack including Channel 4, Paramount Comedy and Eurosport for £1 per day or £3.50 for 31 days.
Sky News & Sports pack including Sky Sports 1, 2 and News - £5 per month.
Sky Entertainment pack including Sky one, Living and Cartoon Network - £5 per month.
Sky Music pack including Kerrang, Kiss and Q - £5 per month.
All channels included in the packs are a mixture of Live channels and made for mobile channels which show a selection of full shows and highlights. For those who are desperate to keep up to date with their favourite TV shows or sport this is a good cost effective service – although here at OneCompare.com we are not sure we would really enjoy the new series of Lost on a 2 inch screen.
