New Mix & Match tariffs, also no more upfront costs for your top of the range mobile
Wednesday, October 03, 2007
Yesterday 3 released new 18 month tariffs following the same pattern as T-Mobile’s Flext plans. Instead of getting a fixed allowance of minutes and messages, you are given an allowance to use as you wish on minutes or messages. For example: Mix & Match 300 gives you 300 units of credit which can be used on any mixture of minutes and messages.
Basically every minute of calls is worth 1 unit and every message is also worth 1 unit. So for £15 per month you could have 300 minutes, or 300 messages or 100 minutes and 200 messages.
The plans also have a few added extras which make them even better value for money:
Free voicemail – which T-Mobile have recently removed from their inclusive credit on Flext. An extra 300 free minutes to other 3 customers on all tariffs below Free access to Skype, Windows Live Messenger, eBay and Yahoo.
The tariffs are as follows:
When compared to Flext £25 (18 month) where you get up to 300 minutes or up to 600 messages – on the £24 Mix & Match 900 (18 month) you get up to 900 minutes or 900 messages, and is therefore much better value.
3 have also come up with new handset pricing for the Mix & Match tariffs, you will not pay up front for an expensive handset. Instead the cost of the phone is split up over the contract, and added onto the line rental. Now some customers may not like the idea of paying for a phone – but don’t worry there are still plenty of free phones such as the Sony Ericsson K800i or Nokia 6120.
The Mix & Match tariffs may suit those wishing to get an expensive phone on a lower tariff, such as the Nokia N95 – which can cost up to £300 up front on lower tariffs such as the £15 talker and Flext £20. On the Mix & Match 300 you would add on £12 per month to your line rental, taking it up to £27 per month – but only costing you an extra £216 over the life of the contract, on a low cost tariff and without that nasty up front sting!
