Samsung team up with Bang & Olufsen for a new music phone
Samsung have officially announced their new music mobile phone as the Samsung Serenata, in partnership with Bang & Olufsen. Designed by David Lewis, and sporting the same ‘unusual’ design as it’s predecessor the Serene, this is a phone for those who love music.
The Samsung Serenata / F310 is heavy on the music features but lacking on other features unfortunately. It has a built-in hi-fi stereo speaker system by B&O, meaning you can play your music at the highest volume without distortion. The speakers are hidden beneath the slide, where the keypad would be – however this phone slides down rather than up, and is missing a normal keypad.
The odd slide system means that the control wheel is placed at the top of the handset and the screen at the bottom, meaning it really is an upside down phone. The keypad is on the directional control wheel, meaning it will probably not suit heavy texters.
The Serenata is quite heavy at 136g, probably because of the special speakers. It is only tri band and is seriously lacking a camera, it is 3G however – obviously not for video calls, but for faster music downloads.
- Size: 109.5 x 63 x 19.7 mm
- Weight: 136 g
- Screen: TFT touchscreen, 256K colours, 240 x 240 pixels, 2.26 inches Camera None
- Memory: 4 GB internal memory
- Connection: GPRS, HSDPA, Bluetooth and USB v2.0 with A2DP
- Messaging: SMS, MMS, Email
- Phone Type: Slide
OneCompare.com can only imagine that this will be quite an expensive handset, as the Samsung Serene before it was. This is really just a phone for the music obsessed – but we imagine the majority of those will already have flashy MP3 players!
