High end Sat Nav for a low one off cost
Satellite navigation company Garmin have developed a sat nav application for smartphones, that is easy to use and affordable. The Garmin Mobile XT is available on a microSD card (with miniSD and standard SD card converters) for use with a wide range of smartphones preloaded with GPS.
The software links with the phone’s GPS to give customers preloaded maps and access to dynamic content such as real time traffic alerts and weather reports – with no subscription fees. Updates and safety camera alerts will however carry a subscription charge.
Once the card is inserted the application will load automatically to the home screen where customers can easily enter an address or choose from millions of points of interest. Some of the clever features of the Garmin Mobile XT are that you can choose to route to an address in your contact list or appointment list, for quick and easy navigation. Garmin’s PeerPoints also allow users to send their location to other phones or navigate to other Garmin Mobile XT users with the touch of a button.
The software also comes with free access to Garmin Online via the mobile web (data charges will apply) this will allow real time updates to weather, congestion, accidents and road construction for a full navigation service.
The Garmin Mobile XT is available for an RRP of £59.99 and will work with a wide range of phones from manufacturers such as: Sony Ericsson, HP, Nokia, HTC and Samsung.
