Yesterday 3 launched their new Pay As You Go tariff called Flat12.
Three claim that Flat12 is the cheapest PAYG tariff ever to hit the market, with a flat rate of 12p for calls and text messages. T-Mobile launched their Everyone PAYG tariff several months ago with a flat rate of 12p for all calls although they have recently raised the call charge to a flat rate of 15p.
Three boast that Flat12 ‘is the first PAYG tariff to offer customers the same deal as contract tariffs, and is another bold move by 3 to undercut other mobile operators who 3 believe are not doing enough to give value back to customers.’ Three believe that offering customers the chance to’Stretch’ their deal is offering them value for money.
‘Stretching’ your deal gives you lower call/text message prices for topping up by a specific amount each month. If you top up between £15 and £21 per month you will receive 300 units, a call minute = 1 unit and a text message = 1 unit, this is an average of 5p per call. Topping up by over £21 per month gives you 700 units, this is an average of 3p per call. You will also receive 300 free 3 to 3 call minutes.
Flat12 also gives customers the benefit of free voicemail retrieval. The majority of networks only offer a select number of handsets on PAYG deals, Flat12 allows customers any choice of the Three handset range.
Other networks also offer top up incentives such as O2 Online’s PAYG Talk Anytime who give away free minutes by topping up. If you top up by £10 to £14 you receive 50 free anytime cross network minutes, if you top up by £15 to £29 you receive 100 free anytime cross network minutes, and if you top up by over £30 you receive 150 free anytime cross network minutes.
Overall Flat12 is an excellent PAYG tariff and it is continuing the trend of flat rate PAYG deals such as T-Mobile’s Everyone (15p for all calls) and Oranges Speak Easy (15p for all calls).
