Sony Ericsson W890 improves on it’s predecessor’s features

A new Walkman phone for 2008 has been announced in the form of the Sony Ericsson W890, a follow up to the slim W880. It manages to build on the features of the previous release, however the styling has been changed to give it round edges which unfortunately makes it look more like the Motorola L6.

It does now include a 3.15 megapixel camera, albeit without autofocus and flash – which is a bit of a mistake really. And is rumoured to come complete with a 2GB memory card.

The phonebook has been changed from the usual Sony Ericsson style to include great little additions such as the ability to send a message to a contact with the click of one button from your contacts list. There is also a smart search feature which lets you begin typing a number from the main screen, and the phone will bring up all contacts matching the few numbers you have typed in.

Another useful search feature is in the media player, you can search for a song even if you only know part of it’s name – the phone will search your music based on the words you type in and bring up relevant matches. And with a 2GB memory card there could be quite a lot of songs to search through.

Look out for the Sony Ericsson W890, it should be available within the next couple of months.
