Subscriptions are seen as a waste of money
Wednesday, January 23, 2008
T-Mobile have launched results from a survey by Ipsos MORI which shows a greater demand for flexibility and choice by consumers.
Almost half of the Britons surveyed felt that they wasted money last year on unused membership, contracts and subscriptions. 22% of people surveyed wasted more that £50 on unused memberships and a further 12% wasted between £26-£50.
Of course January is a very popular time for gyms, with many people setting a new years resolution to get fit. However, over two thirds of people joining for this reason felt that their membership didn’t deliver value for money.
With the recent credit crunch 2008 could be the year for a lot of people to look seriously at their money. Almost a third of those surveyed would prefer a pay-to-day gym membership, 27% would like to see pay-per-view digital TV services, and a quarter would like pay-as-you-drive car insurance.
T-Mobile have already ventured into this area with their broadband deals, they were the first network to offer unlimited pay-per-day broadband, via a USB modem and laptop – for just £4 per day. T-Mobile customers can also choose to surf the mobile web with Web n Walk Plus Daily, for just £1 per day.
