New Samsung lightweight 3G mobile phone

Samsung have announced a new 3G handset the Samsung L170. It’s a new style mobile phone and looks unique as it is considerably different to 3G handsets currently available which makes it quite an exciting mobile phone.

3G phones are generally pretty heavy weighing in at the lightest around 100 grams. The L170 weighs in at 86 grams which makes it one of the lightest 3G handsets currently available on the market.

As for its looks it has a glossy finish with silver metal highlights, a large navigation wheel, a widescreen display (1.6” – possibly made like this as the screen is relatively small) and an unusual touch sensitive keypad. Touch sensitive keypads have previously been flat, but the L170 sports what looks like a standard keypad but is actually touch sensitive with the buttons slightly raised. However many mobile phone users feel that touch sensitive buttons are not as accurate as standard buttons when texting, maybe the raised touch sensitive buttons will prove to be more accurate than the usual flat style keypads.

The L170’s features include a 2 mega pixel camera with autofocus, flash, video recorder and a secondary VGA camera for video calling, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 connectivity, RSS reader, web browser, multimedia player, FM radio, and includes built in software for mobile blogging.

Unfortunately there is no pricing information available for the L170. It is due to be released in the 1st quarter of this year.
