Phones4U purchase Dial-a-Phone.
Dial-a-Phone has been featured on OneCompare for several months now, offering customers competitive cashback and free gift deals. Dial-a-Phone was a privately owned company, jointly owned by Jonathan Beck and Richard Frank, but this week they have been bought out by the high street retailer Phones4U.
Phones4U purchased Dial-a-Phone for £9million, despite the fact that they wanted a price tag of £60million two years ago. Dial-a-Phone is thought to have accepted the deal due to the impending increase from 10% to 18% in capital gains tax, due to happen in April this year.
Beck and Frank had been running Dial-a-Phone more closely since the former MD Andy Brown left the company to move to Carphone Warehouse in April 2006. The running of Dial-a-Phone will now fall into the hands of Nick Fisher who is Phones4U’s current head of indirect and telesales.
Phones4U will be running Dial-a-Phone without any interference. Despite this it is rumoured that they will be closing down the Northampton distribution centre in the next few months, and the operation will be combined with the existing distribution centre in Stoke.
Customers can expect to see more deals from Phones4U’s key dealers Vodafone and Orange, becoming available through Dial-a-Phone. Both Vodafone and Orange have been practically non-existent on Dial-a-Phones website over the past year, but customers can now look forward to new exciting deals popping up on the website from now on.
