Cuts will make data roaming much cheaper in the EU
Friday, June 20, 2008
O2 have today announced that they will be cutting data and texting costs within the EU ahead of the summer holiday season.
Prepay customers will benefit from a cut to text messaging back to the UK while they are in the EU – this was previously set at 49 pence, but as of today will drop to just 25 pence (matching the current rate for contract customers).
And data usage while abroad in the EU will also drop for both prepay and contract customers. The cost of using a MB of data will be just £3.00, which is a massive drop of 87% for prepay customers and a big 57% drop for contract customers.
O2 have also added two new data bundles for high users which reduce the rate even further to just £1.00 per MB. The Data Abroad 20 gives you 10MB of data £20.00, of for higher users there is the Data Abroad 50 which gives 50MB of data for £50.00.
