Comment on the latest financial results from Carphone Warehouse
Anthony Ball, director of independent online mobile phone comparison service OneCompare.com comments: “The dramatic increase in the number of Carphone Warehouse stores across the country while combining a basic, yet very practical mobile phone offering through Fresh has worked wonders. It is no wonder they have seen a 20% increase in mobile subscriptions as they are offering well priced products in an increasingly savvy market where consumers are becoming more accustomed to switching their mobile network for a better deal. Carphone have begun to prod the vast 58%* of mobile phone users who would switch their mobile network for cheaper call and text costs. However, there are still millions out there who are on the wrong mobile phone deal who Carphone and other competitors will inevitably target in the very near future.”
“The next logical step for Carphone Warehouse’s mobile phone offerings is to introduce a simple to understand, competitively priced contract tariff to really solidify their position as a challenger in the mobile service provider arena. Larger mobile phone companies are already starting to feel the pinch. The likes of Vodafone and Orange have fallen flat on their face as offerings of wizzy new handsets haven’t attracted new customers. From speaking to our users, only 16%* said they would switch for a better handset alone.”
