Aircell have introduced airplanes to a the world of WiFi.

Aircell have managed to power an on Gogo in-flight WiFi service for American airlines, the service is available on non stop flights between New York and San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, and New York and Miami. It is priced at $9.95 for flights less then 3 hours length and $12.95 for 3 Hours plus.

The Gogo service offers full WiFi connectivity, though, thankfully, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services are blocked to eliminate the possibility of chatty passengers. Gogo support regular web surfing, email, and even corporate VPN access. Passengers can use any WiFi-enabled laptop, smartphone, or PDA to sign up through the Gogo portal to gain access.
