O2 Provides a better service as they go underground

By using new antenna technology mobile network O2 has given customers the use of use their mobiles on the Glasgow underground on both the 2G and 3G network.

O2 network services will be available at five of the cities most active stops from December: Buchanan Street, St enoch, Kelvinbridge, Hillhead and Patrick, thanks to the deal between Arqiva and Stracthcycle. Partnership for Transport. The technology installed will most likely be used in the future to extend the underground coverage to other transport networks.

O2 is the first mobile network in the UK to implement a service like this, and while there will be a lot of fans for such a service – we feel that there may be an equally large group of people who feel this is a bad move. Travelling on public transport can be a stressful time anyway without the added annoyance of people’s mobile phone’s ringing constantly.
