Samsung set to be number one for prepay sales

This year Samsung has overtaken Nokia in the prepay market based on market share, it looks like Samsung are on the rise according to senior industry sources. Samsung edged their way infront by just 1% in the prepay market and is trailing by just 0.5% on contract sales.

With a combination of prepay handsets that are reasonably priced with decent features, for example the J700 and E250 mobiles, the Korean manufacturer has boosted both their sales and profits.

By taking on the 3 network which wasn’t previously available with Samsung handsets up until last month, the manufacturer is hopeful that it can soon reach the number one spot.

Its flagship Tocco device is believed to be selling around 15,000 handsets per week. One network source said: ‘Tocco is doing well on all networks and they’ve priced it aggressively. We are looking to see what they will do to prices for Christmas.'
