Perhaps Blackberry should stick to what they know
Rim have officially announced their first handset to come in form of a clamshell or flip, this will be known as the Blackberry Pearl flip 8220.
The highlight of the handset include the usual Blackberry OS, Wi-Fi connectivity and the traditional trackball navigation. There is also a SureType QWERTY keyboard and a 3.5mm audio output jack. The internal display of the Pearl Flip 8220 features QVGA resolution and there is a secondary external display with a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels and the on board camera is just 2 megapixels.
Sadly it is quite a large phone at 101.1 x 50 x 17.5 mm – this is a standard size for a bar style Blackberry so when flipped open it will be a pretty decent size!
The Blackberry Pearl 8220 has a rather strange style, perhaps this is just because we are not used to it. We will see how well the Blackberry Flip goes down when it is released later this year.
