Manufacturer is not following the trend to open a music store
The Korean manufacturer have decided not to follow the current trend of opening up a mobile music store and instead will be focusing on other applications instead. Samsung is planning an applications store, called Mobile Innovator, on an open source platform, something similar to the Apple store. The difference will lie in the fact that the new Samsung store will allow developers to freely create apps for their customers. A beta version of this store is expected during October for testing.
Other manufacturers are focusing on mobile stores - Nokia recently announced its Come With Music device, giving unlimited music, while extending their Nokia music store to the web. Sony Ericsson also jumped on the bandwagon and will be releasing its own unlimited music device this month, while LG has teamed up with Omnifone, the company behind MusicStation, to launch its unlimited music handset.
So all those needing more music or a place to develop mobile applications should be satisfied over the coming months.
