Brand New Apple iPhone 3G S released today!

It’s that time of year again. The iPhone stampede has started, with Apple’s biggest fans rushing to get their hands on the latest iPhone – the iPhone 3G S.

Apple announced just 2 weeks ago that it would be releasing a new version of the popular phone, for the third year running. Most Apple fans had been eagerly awaiting the announcement; with rumours about the new device starting just shortly after the last one was released!

Now your iPhone 3G S.has all the features and specifications of the previous iPhone 3G, with a few essential added extras. Most importantly it is 2 times faster than the 3G iPhone, has an upgraded 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and a handy tap to focus feature. And finally you are now able to shoot and edit video with your iPhone 3G S.

There is also the Voice control feature – meaning you can now shout at your iPhone to ‘call mum’ or play that favourite Metallica track. For the traveller or map user amongst you there is the Compass, which will allow you to point the way home, or automatically align maps to the correct direction.

Now Apple have also added a landscape keyboard, MMS, internet tethering (using your iPhone as a modem for your laptop is subject to an extra charge) and spotlight search which enables you to easily search the whole of your iPhone and its contents. However for those with last year’s iPhone 3G you can also get all these additional features simply by downloading the newest iPhone 3.0 Software Update.

The Apple iPhone 3G S sadly isn’t going to be cheap. Unless you are willing to pay a higher monthly cost you will have to pay for the phone initially, as it is even more expensive than the previous versions! One of the main reasons for the extra cost is that it is only available in 16GB and 32GB versions, for those looking for a cheaper option the iPhone 3G 8GB is going to remain on sale.

So on the popular £35 tariff (or £34.26 currently) on an 18 month contract you will be looking to pay a whopping £184.98 upfront for the 16GB handset! And the same tariff on a 24 month contract will still cost you £87.11 for the iPhone. Or there is the £44.05 tariff on a 24 month contract – where the 16GB version is free to take out.
