Tuesday, March 21, 2006
The 3 group has announced a deal with Microsoft that will allow third generation mobile phone users to use MSN Hotmail and MSN Messenger through their 3 mobile handset. This means customers will be able to stay in touch on the move through there mobile phones.
Customers will be able to read, send, and delete emails as well as being able to view an ‘at a glance’ inbox, all the normal email functions you would usually do at your computer will now be accessible through your 3 mobile handset. You will be able to use your existing login information to access your hotmail account as 3 will allow access through the 3’s portal walled garden.
The deal will initially cover over 5 million customers on 3's 3G network. UK, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Hong Kong and Australian customers will be the first to access their Hotmail and Messenger services from their 3 handsets, with plans to extend to several other markets in the future. Later this year 3 will also be able to offer access to Windows Live Messenger and Windows Live Mail.
