PayPal make it even easier to make a payment by simply using your mobile phone.

PayPal have recently done a soft launch of their new PayPal Mobile Service, which allows a PayPal user to send money to another mobile phone or email address via a text message. You send a payment by sending a text message to the system to tell it the amount you wish to pay (eg. send £5.00), and to whom you wish to send it to (by entering there email address or mobile phone number).

To do this you need to activate your mobile phone on your PayPal account. Once you have done this you will need to select a PIN to be used during the activation process. PayPal will then call your phone and prompt you for your PIN using an automated voice system. Each time you make a payment you will need your PIN to confirm the transaction.

You can also add extra information in your text message such as your shipping address or a note, by using special codes. Currently the system only works with mobile phones in the US, Canada, and the UK, with PayPal planning to add more countries in the future.
