Latest market share figures show that o2 are taking over the mobile phone market
According to a recent report from Continental Research, O2 have 24.1 per cent market share followed by Orange with 23.8 per cent and Vodafone with 22.7 per cent. OneCompare.com director comments on the findings.
Anthony Ball, director of independent mobile phone tariff comparison and switching service OneCompare.com comments: “From speaking to our users, cost is still a big issue in the mobile phone market as 57%* of people would switch away from their current provider if they were given more free texts and talk time. It’s important that Orange and Vodafone listen to consumers and ditch their tactic of offering free handsets in return for uncompetitive contracts. Our tariff calculator reveals that O2 consistently hits top spot for value with others such as Orange and Vodafone flagging well behind.”
Ball continues: “The report also suggests that there is a slowdown in the growth of mobile phone subscribers, therefore increasing the importance for providers to focus their attention and offers to existing customers. Providers have already recognised that existing customers will play more of a role in the coming years, reflected in advertising from some of the bigger players, notably Orange.”
