Unlimited Internet browsing for £1 per day with the new T-Mobile Web n Walk Pay as you Go service
Tuesday, June 20, 2006
T-Mobile will be releasing the first real internet browsing package for pay as you go customers on August 1st 2006, who have been left behind thus far in the quest for cut price mobile internet. They are expanding the Web n Walk service to Pay as you Go customers with a slightly different set up, offering unlimited internet access for £1 per day.
T-Mobile's Web n Walk service enables customers to browse the internet all day everyday for a set fee (£7.50 a month on contract pay monthly mobile phones). Web n Walk has changed the landscape for the way internet browsing is charged with it's flat rate rather than charging customers a per minute rate for the amount of time spent on the internet, and allowing them unlimited access for a set daily/monthly charge.
As over 2/3 of T-Mobile customers are on Pay as you Go and since it still seems to be held in high regard by T-Mobile after it's recent introduction of three extremely compeititive pay as you go tariffs, T-Mobile have expanded the Web n Walk service so that Pay as you go customers can benefit too.
Customers will need a Web n Walk handset to take advantage of the Web n Walk Pay as you Go service and T Mobile are hoping to expand the Web n Walk handset range up to 25 mobile phones by Autumn. Some of the handsets currently in the Web n Walk mobile range are the Motorola RAZR V3, Nokia 6131, Nokia 6233, Sony Ericsson K750i and the Samsung E870.
The Web n Walk service will charge the customer 0.73 pence per kilobyte of data downloaded until the customer has spent £1, after which the customer will pay nothing for the rest of the day. This is an excellent way of charging the service as it essentially makes the old pricing structure obsolete rather than customers having to have prior knowledge of this offer and sign up to gain it's advantages.
With the introduction of this new innovation and the recent cut of international roaming costs from T-Mobile a primary T-Mobile contract or a second T-Mobile pay as you go phone could be a good decision for infrequent business travellers. The ability to keep in touch with the office using this new Web n Walk offering while in the UK, coupled with low roaming rates (particularly in the USA and Canada) is sure to be an attractive proposition.
