Free weekend calls and texts on Vodafone pay as you go
Thursday, July 06, 2006
Vodafone have released a new addition to their Smartstep and Smartplus pay as you go tariffs. The new incentive offers new and existing customers on either plan free weekend texts or free weekend calls and texts depending on how much credit you use throughout the week.
If you use £2.50 of your credit during the week, classed as midnight on Sunday to 7.30pm on Friday you will get free texts for the weekend – classed as Friday 7.30pm to Sunday midnight.
If you use £5 of your credit during the week you will receive free weekend cross network calls and texts.
The offers can also be used in conjunction with other Vodafone offers such as Stop The Clock which is only available on the Smartplus tariff. Vodafone stop the clock allows customers to only pay for the first 3 minutes of their call and pay nothing for the next 57 minutes, meaning that customers can talk up to an hour with the call only costing them between 90p peak times or 15p off peak times.
If you add Stop The Clock to your Smartplus tariff (this is free of charge) it may become difficult for customers to use £5 a week to receive their free evening and weekend calls and texts. With Stop The Clock as well you would have to be on the phone for over 5 hours peak times or over 33 hours off peak to spend your £5 allowance (without sending any text messages which are 12p each) to qualify for free weekend calls and texts.
Also it is worth noting that if you are regularly spending over £20 per month on Vodafone pay as you go and qualifying for the weekend bonuses it may be worth reviewing how much you use your phone as a contract could well be cheaper.
