Samsung to release a phone styled on some of the slimline mp3 players available
Friday, August 11, 2006
The Samsung X830 is a stylish thin mobile phone based on the Korean version SPH-S4300 equipped with a rotating disc which is used for navigating through the phones features.
When closed the X830 looks like a standard MP3 player, but slide it open and you gain access to the keypad. BenQ-Siemens will soon be releasing their new slider phone in the form of the SL91, which again looks very similar to many popular MP3 players when closed, although it is a larger handset than the X830.
Maybe we will see more of these types of phones being released, designed to look like MP3 players not mobile phones, or even just to look different much like the Nokia 7280 and Nokia 7380 which have no numeric keypad - just a navigational disc.
The built in media player supports OGC, WMV and MP3 files and it also has a 5 band equalizer for adjusting the sound quality.
The X830 is so slim that the numeric keys are placed two per row. It measures in at 85 x 29 x 20 mm and weighs in at 74 grams, with a screen size of 32 x 19 mm with a 128 x 220 pixel display.
Other features include 1.3 megapixel camera , Bluetooth, and USB 2.0 port for connecting your X830 to your PC.
The X830 is due for release in Autumn 2006. Keep up to date on all the facts and figures and the best deals available when it is released in our Samsung X830 section.
