About Huawei P Smart (2019) - Review, Specs + more The P Smart is Huawei's latest budget-friendly handset that has been relaunched and rejuvenated for 2019. It's a great phone, but has some significant drawbacks, even if it is a budget device. The "P" does not stand for photography - it's lacking in the camera department, but other than that, it's shortcomings don't really matter as it's such a great quirky phone. Table of contents Huawei P Smart (2019) - Battery P smart: Dual camera system P Smart (2019) Design Our Verdict The P Smart (2019) is a phablet rather than a phone.. it's pretty big in fact it has a 6.21 inch display and this occupies almost the entire front. This display is Full HD and inside under the covers there is a Kirin 710 chip, which has 8 cores and up to 2.2 GHz clock speed. The processor is accompanied by 3 GB of RAM. Huawei P Smart (2019) - Battery The battery is 3400 mAh in size, and should last the whole day even with intensive use. There is also a fingerprint sensor integrated to protect against unauthorised access. Surfing works via WLAN and on the way in the fast LTE network. Thanks to the dual-SIM support, you can also use 2 mobile phone connections in parallel. The operating system is Android 9 Pie but Android Q will be available shortly, despite the trade ban in the USA Huawei are still pushing full-steam ahead and Google has promised them the update. The P Smart is polished with the in-house surface EMUI 9.0. In addition, the operating system offers many apps and games in the Play Store. P smart: Dual camera system On the back you will find a camera and two lenses: It is a 13-megapixel and a 2-megapixel camera. Both should together provide for particularly vivid photos and optionally a bokeh effect. You can also use the built-in digital autofocus and an LED flash. High-resolution selfies are taken with the 8 megapixel front camera according to this. In order to have enough space for larger photo and video collections, you can expand the internal memory. With an optional microSD card, the fixed 64 GB can be expanded by up to 512 GB. P Smart (2019) Design The first thing that struck me when seeing the back of the P Smart was how it reminded me of phones like Xiaomi’s recently-launched flagship, the Mi Mix 3, and that’s a good thing too, as the company describes the body of the P Smart 2019 as delivering a “ceramic-like finish”. Our Verdict Huawei has done an excellent job of bringing a fully-featured smartphone experience down into a phone that somehow manages to duck below the £200 threshold. The build is one of the phone’s biggest shortcomings but whether that doesn’t bother you or you simply plan on sticking a case on it, there’s so much else on offer that this one aspect is worth overlooking.
