About Huawei Y6 (2019) - Review, Specs + more

The Huawei Y6 (2019) is 6 inches tall, has 4G support and has a nice long battery life. One of the best features about it is the ease that you can unlock it with the fingerprint sensor straight after taking it out of your pocket.

Huawei Y6 – Everything you need to know

  • Inexpensive 6-inch smartphone
  • Supports 4G
  • Synthetic leather back
  • Good battery life

The Huawei Y6 is an affordable Android smartphone that is equipped with a 6-inch display. The downside is that this display only has a resolution of 1528 × 720 pixels in HD +. Many phones within the same price bracket as the Y6 have a 4k display.

Huawei Y6 Performance

The built-in MediaTek MT6761 quad-core processor is enough for simple applications and apps, but with 2 GB of RAM it is not designed for multitasking or games that require a lot of resources. The internal memory of the device is a paltry 32GB, but this can be expanded by up to 512GB using the built-in microSD card slot. You can also use 2 nano SIM cards – a common standard feature on many Huawei smartphones. The Huawei Y6 is also equipped with a 13-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The front camera boasts 2D facial recognition.

Huawei Y6 with synthetic leather back

The Y6 records videos in full HD at 30 frames per second – not bad considering the price of it. And with the 4G support you’ll have no trouble establishing a fast internet connection via 4G and of course WLAN. The compromise is that you’ll have to do without 5 GHz WiFi, NFC and a USB Type-C interface.

Living with the Huawei Y6

It takes quite a while to charge the phone via the micro USB. On the other hand, the 3020 mAh battery gives a nice long runtime – with a reported talk time of up to 35 hours. If you find you are running out of juice, then you’ll be glad that the Y6 has a great energy-saving mode. One big letdown if this is important to you, is the fact that there is no fingerprint sensor for quickly unlocking the device. This is the main trade off for the slightly different non-slip synthetic leather finish on the back. We don’t see why they couldn’t add this feature to the front of the phone though. If you like your smartphone to be light and unobtrusive, then you’ll love the fact that the Huawei Y6 weighs only 150g.
