Apple to launch second-generation iPhone SE this month

Apple is set to release its brand-new second-generation iPhone SE on the 24th April and the new model is available to pre-order now from Apple and other affiliated phone networks.

The new iPhone SE is an updated version of Apple’s previous SE model released in 2016 and is a smaller, cheaper version of the brand’s flagship phone.

How much is the iPhone SE?

The iPhone SE is Apple’s cheapest new release from the past few years with a starting price of £419 for the 64GB version, £469 for the 128GB version and £569 for the 256GB version.

What features does the iPhone SE have?

The new iPhone is installed with Apple’s recently updated A13 Bionic microchip, which is designed to run new apps without any lag. The phone also has a 4.7in Retina HD display and a single rear 12MP wide-angle camera that has the ability to shoot in the brand’s coveted Portrait Mode. Unlike Apple’s other flagship phones, the new iPhone SE features a Home button with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor rather than the newer Face ID system.

The 4.7in Retina screen has a resolution of 1334×750px at 326ppi and is installed with Apple’s True Tone feature to display colours more vibrantly. The iPhone is also equipped with Apple’s Haptic Touch technology, which will allow users to access the SE’s secondary controls by pressing down more firmly.

The new iPhone SE features fast wireless charging and has the ability to withstand being submerged under 1 metre of water for a maximum of 30 minutes.

Which colours is the iPhone SE available in?

The new iPhone SE is available to purchase in three different colours: white, black and red. When you purchase the iPhone SE in red, Apple will donate a portion of the proceeds to the charity PRODUCT(RED), which currently contributes to the Global Fund to combat COVID-19 by providing diagnostics kits and PPE to health workers.
