About OnePlus Nord - Review, Specs + more OnePlus are known as the ‘flagship killer’ due to their reputation of including features on their mid-range smartphones that you would usually only find on the flagship phones from the world’s leading manufacturers like Samsung and Apple. In fact, the OnePlus philosophy is that customers across the globe should not settle for the lower quality devices made by these giants. Instead, they offer beautiful-looking Android smartphones that offer the equivalent technology to the flagships, but for a much lower price. If you’re looking for a smartphone that is stylish and powerful but is also a cheap alternative to the mainstream smartphones, then you should consider one of the models from OnePlus. In particular, the OnePlus Nord. OnePlus Nord Display The display on the OnePlus Nord is similar to that of the OnePlus 8. When it comes to their displays, OnePlus appear to pull out all the stops. Featuring a 6.44-inch AMOLED display, the screen has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and an impressive density of 408 pixels per inch. It also has a 90Hz refresh rate with an aspect ratio of 20:9. This makes the smartphone easy to hold in the hand, without much compromise on the quality of the screen itself. A double win in our book. OnePlus Nord Camera In total, the OnePlus Nord features six different cameras. Four of these are on the front of the device and the other two are on the reverse. The Nord features a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with OIS, EIS f/1.75 aperture alongside three secondary sensors of 8MP, 2MP and 5MP. As well as a dual LED flash, it also has multi autofocus (PDAF and CAF). All of this means that as well as being able to take stunning photos, the OnePlus Nord also supports 4k recording at 30 frames per second, and 1080p video at 30 to 60 frames per second. If you like to record in slow motion, you can do this in 1080p at 240 frames per second. One let down though is that this device does not support external microphones when recording videos. OnePlus Nord Performance Specifications One of the best things about the OnePlus Nord is the lack of bloatware. Running OxygenOS 10.5 (OnePlus’ own operating system) and based on Android 10, it does look very clean compared with even the most expensive of smartphones. Powered by a Snapdragon 765G 5G processor and Adreno 620CPU, the Nord of course supports 5G capability, which makes it one of the cheapest 5G compatible phones on the market today. As with many of OnePlus’ products, the OnePlus Nord is available in the following variants: 64GB storage and 6GB RAM 128GB storage and 8GB RAM 256GB storage and 12GB RAM All three variants come with a display fingerprint scanner as well as support for unlocking using facial-recognition technology. The big let down is the fact that there is no microSD card slot, so make sure you buy the variant with the correct amount of storage for your needs. The Nord is however, dual sim enabled and supports 4G in both sims when used together. While the phone copes well with gaming and multi-tasking, it is not the best by far. So if this is important to you then it’s best to consider a different model altogether. However, for the price it is a very capable smartphone. OnePlus Nord Battery and Charging The OnePlus Nord is powered by a 4115 mAh battery that has WarpCharge 30T fast charging. With mixed usage, the phone easily stays in power for a full day. It can charge in just over an hour, which is also handy. By charging the phone for 30 minutes you can get around a 50% charge from zero due to the WarpCharge feature. OnePlus Nord -Verdict Overall, the OnePlus Nord is not the best phone available by any means, but for the price bracket it is an exceptionally good choice. If you’re looking for a mid-range smartphone and don’t do too much multi-tasking or gaming, then this would be the perfect device to suit your needs.
