About Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus 5G - Review, Specs + more

Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus

In comparison to the standard Galaxy S20model, some things are a bit bigger on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus. Namely the touchscreen, the RAM and the battery. The main camera also comes with an additional 3D depth sensor.

Compared to the predecessor Galaxy S10 Plus, the S20 Plus is significantly larger. The WQHD + display with a resolution of 3200 × 1440 pixels now measures 6.7 inches (16.95 cm) instead of 6.4 inches. Like the smaller S20 standard version, the Plus model has an elongated dimension with an aspect ratio of 20: 9. This has a positive effect when watching films, especially since the Dynamic Amoled display can also display videos in the high-contrast HDR10 + format. To put the cherry on the cake, the flagship smartphone has stereo speakers, which AKG has optimized especially for media with Dolby Atmos sound.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus

Large Amoled display with 120 Hertz frame rate

With a frame rate of 120 Hertz, the almost borderless Infinity-O touchscreen promises an extremely smooth scrolling and gaming experience. As a continuation of the S10 design, the sides of the aluminum frame including the front and back (made of robust Gorilla 6 protective glass) are even more rounded. A fingerprint sensor and a selfie camera are hidden behind the display glass on the front. This is now placed in the middle without a notch at the top of the display and resolves 10 megapixels. You can expect high image quality not only in photos but also when you flick to video mode. In addition to an auto HDR feature, a 4K video function with a maximum of 60 frames per second is also integrated.

Quad camera with depth sensor

The glass back is interrupted only by a rectangular rear camera panel. As with the S20 standard model, you have a main camera with wide-angle optics, optical image stabilisation and 12 megapixel resolution at your disposal. Thanks to the comparatively large 1 / 1.76-inch sensor, the results in night mode in particular should be noticeably less noisy. The ultra wide-angle lens also resolves 12 megapixels, but does without image stabilisation. In contrast to the top model S20 Ultra 5G, the image-stabilised 64 megapixel telephoto lens does not use an optical zoom. Nevertheless, due to the high resolution and the folded lens technology, the 3x hybrid optic zoom should be flawless. In addition, you can digitally zoom in on subjects using a 30x space zoom. If you prefer an even stronger zoom, you should go for the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, which boasts a 10x hybrid optic zoom. Compared to the standard model, the Plus variant is characterized by an additional ToF sensor for 3D depth measurement. With this, among other things, portrait shots with an appealing release effect are possible. Last but not least, the video mode also scores with extremely high 8K resolution and effective action cam stabilization.

Fast top-class performance

In terms of performance, the S20 Plus and its Android 10 operating system differ little from the standard version. The waterproof case also contains a powerful Exynos 990 processor. However, it has a slightly larger 12 GB of RAM behind it. The internal memory, on the other hand, has the same capacity of 128 GB. As with the S20, you have a micro SDXC card slot available to subsequently increase the storage size by up to 1 TB. Another compartment for dual SIM operation is also available. Due to its higher energy requirements, the Plus version relies on a slightly larger, also non-replaceable 4,500 mAh battery. Fast charging should also be possible using a 45-watt power supply. Due to the stronger battery and the larger display, the weight of the Samsung Galaxy S20 plus is slightly higher than the Galaxy S20, as it weighs in at 188g.If a great deal of your smartphone usage is spent on media, then the Galaxy S20 Plus is a great phone to use to get the most out of it. The larger screen is great for watching films and videos, and the camera is extremely capable too. If you’re more into scrolling through your social media accounts and messaging people then it might not be worth the extra cost, and sticking to the Galaxy S20 might be a more viable option.
