Pixel 6a Contract Deals – How To Find Them

The Pixel 6a by Google is now more affordable on pay monthly than ever, deals start at £14 a month. Read on to find out how to compare the cheapest monthly Pixel 6a prices, and my review of this phone in-depth.

Having just recently received the Google Pixel 6a, I've had the chance to really get to know it and see how it works. Here's what I've found.

Pixel 6a: Battery life review

Having a great battery is one of the most important features of any mobile device, and the Google Pixel 6a has a good battery life, though it has been villified by others. It seems that the real-world usage isn't quite what Google have promised.

The Google Pixel 6a has a battery that lasts for "up to" a day, accordin gto Google, and a half day when used normally. During this time, users can browse the intgernet, play games, and watch videos. The battery will last for around eight hours when used with Wi-Fi off, which is the typical way people use their smartphones.

Battery size & life - is it that bad?

The Pixel 6a's battery is 4,410 mAh. It's not as big as the battery in the Pixel 5a, much to the chagrin of many Pixel fans, but it's still large enough to power the device through a long day.

You should know that the Google Pixel 6a has a built-in feature called Extreme Battery Saver. The feature turns off all non-essential features when the battery is low. It's designed to save power in the event of an emergency, but most phones have this nowadays.

Another useful feature is the Adaptive Battery. This feature learns about your usage habits and adjusts your behavior accordingly. It's a system that adjusts the battery power consumption of your apps based on what you're doing with them.

If you're using the Google Pixel 6a a lot, you may have already noticed that the battery drains - and some have compalined about it, to the point where DXOMark have done a variety of tests.

Clearly, the Pixel 6a's battery lasts longer than many other Android phones in this price range. It's not the longest-lasting battery on the market, but it's suitable for most people and shouldn't cause you problems.

Screen resolution - Is it any good?

Compared to the larger Pixel 6 Pro, the Pixel 6a has a smaller display. But its screen is also brighter and more colorful. It also has a faster processor and has an octa-core Google Tensor processor.

The Pixel 6A features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080. The screen is covered with Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 and has a 20:9 aspect ratio. It also has HDR support, which improves color reproduction. It also has an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The Pixel 6a has an impressive battery life. It also has a clean software experience. It also has five years of security updates. It also supports touch events and interaction with a stylus. But it does not have a headphone jack. It also has a slower default brightness when watching HDR10 videos.

How much does the Pixel 6a cost in UK?

On the official Google Store, the Pixel 6a costs £299.

This makes it a great bargain, and many other reviews generally agree. For a phone that has a fast processor, all-day battery life, a smooth gaming experience, and clean software, the price can't be argued with.

Metrics - How capable is it?

The Pixel 6a has a decent enough Delta-E score. This is a metric that measures how accurate the colours on the screen are. The Pixel 6a has a Delta-E score of 0.2, which is better than the Pixel 6.

The Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch screen, while the Pixel 6a has a 6.1-inch screen. Their resolution is similar, but the Pixel 6 has a wider viewport. It also has a higher pixel density, which is important when you're looking at a large display.

The Pixel 6A has a slightly higher pixel density than the Pixel 6. It has a 2.625 x xxhdpi pixel density, which is higher than the Pixel 6's 2.625 x xxhdpi.

Camera - Has it been improved?

Using the same camera hardware as the Pixel 2 and 4 series, the Pixel 6a does a great job with both photos and videos. Pixel cameras are known for producing even exposure throughout an image, as well as good detail in both highlights and shadows. They also provide effective stabilization in varying light conditions.

Pixel 6a has a 12.2-megapixel main camera, as well as an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Both have OIS and a f/1.7 aperture. The camera uses a Sony IMX363 sensor, which was also used in the Pixel 2 and 3 series.

The Google Pixel 6a has some new features, like a Night Sight mode that automatically activates when a subject enters the frame. In addition, it features a built-in Magic Eraser tool, which is a clever way to remove unwanted objects from a photo. It's not perfect, though.

What's different between the 6 and 6a?

The Pixel 6a has a smaller sensor than the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. It can't do low-light photography as well as the Pixel 7. But, the company's super-smart photo processing can handle noise well.

It also boasts a better-looking colour profile. In particular, the camera has a 114-degree field of view. And it looks great in bright light, though the newer Pixel 7 Pro goes even further in improving this.

The Google Pixel 6a isn't the most exciting new phone by Google, but it's still one of the best options for bargain hunters. It's also one of the first phones to receive the latest Android 13 update.

You'll note that it has a premium design and don't forget it offers some new features (for Google) like decent water resistance and 18W semi-fast charging.

Magic Eraser - is it any good?

Whether you are an Android or iPhone user, you can use the Magic Eraser feature in Google Photos to remove unwanted elements from your photos. In addition to erasing people and cars, the feature can also be used to change the colours of distracting objects.

The Magic Eraser feature was introduced with the prior model the Pixel 6, and will soon be available to owners of the Pixel 6 Pro. The feature uses machine learning to detect distracting elements in your photos and suggests items to erase. This is done using Google's Tensor chip, which enables on-the-fly speech translation.

To use the Magic Eraser feature, open the Google Photos app on your Pixel 6 or 6 Pro. You will be able to find it under the Tools menu. It is also available in the Edit menu.

The Magic Eraser feature is easy to use. You simply select the object you want to remove from your image. You can then circle the object, brush it, or select it manually. You can also use the Zoom feature to look at the selected options. If the object is not visible in your photo, you can change the color to make it stand out.

In addition to the Magic Eraser feature, the Pixel 6A is also equipped with a Camouflage mode. This feature isn't as dramatic as the standard Magic Eraser mode, but it does change the colour of objects to make them stand out.

How to get a cheap Pixel 6a on contract?

Buying a Google Pixel 6a in the UK is easy enough if you want to go Sim-free as it's now only £299. But some prefer to go for pay monthly contract deals. And this is where Foned comes in :)

The first thing is, you will need to find out which UK networks are supported if you want 5G. This will determine whether the phone can access the 5G network and indeed if you can get 5G coverage where you live. Remember, it is not a guarantee that the Pixel 6a will work with all 5G networks in the UK right now.

This combination of features and advantages makes the Pixel 6a an ideal choice for consumers and businesses seeking a straightforward mobile phone and data plan experience.

Summary: Which contract deal is best?

At its most affordable, a pay monthly contract can work out to be the best opiton. And customers can get the Pixel 6a  with no upfront cost for just £29 per month - plus, they'll get an impressive 25GB of data - including the latest 5G and WiFi offerings from BT, Virgin, and others.

What's even more exciting? For just an extra, small monthly fee you'll also receive a tablet or smartwatch if you prefer, via the Three network.

Overall, the Pixel 6a is a cheap and surprisingly capable phone, that supports 5G. If you aren't bothered about the fact that the battery life isn't that great, then jump right in and don't miss it.

Is SIM Only better for Pixel 6a?

Generally speaking, SIM Only is cheaper but you don't have the benefit of paying monthly for your handset like the Google Pixel 6a, so it only really makes financial sense if you are in the fortunate position to be able to buy the handset outright first. Yes, it works out cheaper overall if you can do that, at least nearly always – but it is really a personal preference. Find out more about SIM Only Deals here

Not sure which mobile network to go for?

Foned completely gets it, it's not easy trying to understand the differences of each mobile network operator. Is o2 any better than Vodafone for this smartphone, when it comes to coverage? Or worse? It's a real minefield. Another example, which is better? A Google Pixel 6a ee contract or a Google Pixel 6a Tesco Mobile contract?

The reality is, it can make a huge difference to your satifaction with the overall product. Who wants to have cruddy download speeds? But never fear – Foned is here. Don't forget to check our latest Blog posts below.

Before you decide to buy a contract or handset, it's important to know if you'll get a signal. Who wants to be walking around into mobile network's blackholes?! After all, ordering your brand new Google Pixel 6a contract only to find you can't use your data (never mind going over the allowance!) in your own house will be pretty not cool.

A simple website a number of our visitors have used is Open Signal which maps signals across all major mobile networks within the UK.

So which UK network has the best signal?

According to Which?, in their recent research, they focused on 4G performance and found that EE offered the fastest average 4G download speeds of the four networks (EE, O2, Three and Vodafone). While EE customers enjoyed average 4G download speeds of 29Mbps, those using the O2 network had to put up with an average speed of just 15.1Mbps.

EE's network was also at the top of the list when it came to the availability of its 4G signal, with customers able to access it 78.5% of the time. Customers with Three had the poorest access to a 4G signal - they were able to access it just 57.1% of the time – that's only just more than half the time, 24/7!
