OnePlus contract deals: What you need to know
OnePlus is actually Chinese, but with a name much more pronounceable than some other brands like Xiaomi, it has quickly become a worthy competitor to larger brands such as Samsung and Apple.
Here in the UK, OnePlus is best known for its range of high-end smartphones, and increasingly for its budget ranges too. The manufacturer directly competes with Samsung, Huawei and LG in terms of pricing and of course being on Android, and perhaps even Apple in terms of design.
OnePlus Nord 2 vs OnePlus CE 5G: Our Comparison
OnePlus Nord 2 and OnePlus CE 5G are two mid-range smartphones from OnePlus that are proving to be surprisingly popular among us Brits. You can compare monthly deal prices on both models here at Foned.
Here is our short review comparing the two:
Design and Build:
Both the OnePlus Nord 2 and the OnePlus CE 5G have a sleek and premium design. The Nord 2 has a glass back with a plastic frame, while the CE 5G has a plastic bacdk and frame. However, the Nord 2 is slightly thinner and lighter than the CE 5G.
Display:
The Nord 2 has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, while the CE 5G has a slightly larger 6.52-inch LCD display with the same resolution. The Nord 2 has a higher refresh rate of 90Hz, while the CE 5G has a standard 60Hz refresh rate.
Performance:
Both the Nord 2 and the CE 5G are powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI chipset and come with 8GB or 12GB of RAM. However, the Nord 2 has a slightly faster CPU clock speed, which may lead to slightly better performance in some scenarios.
OnePlus 7 Pro - Is it worth getting?
The old 2020 period flagship of the manufacturer pretty much blows the competition out of the water. Not only is it cheaper than any iPhone, but it boasts 5G networking and perhaps the nicest looking finish we've seen.
The colours available at launch are also pretty impressive and shimmer in the right light. The OnePlus 7 Pro has a few surprises behind its stunning all-screen front, unblemished by a notch cutout or punch-hole camera. It hides a novel pop-up selfie camera and offers a 90Hz screen refresh rate that makes games and movie-watching look extremely fluid.
Even if it doesn't have the best camera phone, it has other features that Apple and Samsung aren’t giving anyone, and performance to match.
Unfortunately in this quest for being the best, OnePlus' prices have also crept up, and - at launch anyway - the OnePlus 7 Pro cost as much almost as the iPhone XR. Thankfully prices have since fallen, and you can now get this brilliant flagship model for as little as £599, or about £22 a month.
Excellent performance, attractive prices
With its unique (for the time) invite system, OnePlus stirred the breath of exclusivity and rarity around its smartphones. Driving word-of-mouth and brand buzz, OnePlus had the idea that in order to purchase a device from them you had to do it through their own website, and an invitation of another OnePlus fan was needed. It certainly worked, and the brand went viral with the OnePlus One; frankly it hasn't really looked back.
Speaking of the OnePlus One, this phone shook up the market with fantastic performance and desirable features, all wrapped in a great looking device. It successfully competed against the established competition in the form of the Galaxy S5 and the iPhone 5S back in the day.
The two successor phones: OnePlus 2 and OnePlus 3 (are you seeing a pattern here!?) were able to repeat that brand success and consolidate the positive image of the manufacturer.
